Shared Equipment

  • Initial training is required for shared equipment and is only performed by MPC staff. Contact us to arrange training.
  • Users are responsible for supplying consumables such as blades, slides, and slide boxes.
  • Fill in Equipment Use logs with start and end times. Use time will be rounded to the nearest half-hour, eg. 30 minutes minimum
  • Failure to use equipment properly and clean up afterward may lead to loss of equipment access.
  • Users are responsible for any equipment damage incurred through their use.
  • Report any equipment issue to MPC staff immediately to prevent being held responsible for damages.

    • Regular work hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, when MPC staff are available for help or questions.
    • ‘After-Hours Access’ is outside of regular work hours when MPC is closed. Trained users will be given after-hours access to certain equipment following demonstrated equipment use competency.
  • Making Calendar entries:
    • Pick date, add your name and PI, and choose equipment under the Category dropdown.
    • Create an Event to save hour entry.
    • You will receive an email reminder.
    • For the Zeiss Axioskop microscope, check the calendar when finished and leave the light source on if someone will be using it in < 30 minutes.
